No stupid questions!

Just bigoted ones. First of all- “stupid” is an ableist term. Second of all, it’s horrifically oppressive to think that it’s okay to ask trans people intimate questions about their body, their sex life, or anything else just because they’re trans. Saying “No bad questions!” adds to this idea.

Transition-Related Health Care: Is it medically necessary?

Okay, unless this is a giant debate about where the line of medical necessity is in general, don’t fucking make it a question. Yes. Yes it fucking is. Not all the time, but enough of the time. Saying that it’s medically unnecessary is to say that a fuckton of other treatments that are regarded as necessary aren’t. The only thing that really is medically necessary, then, are treatments that must be performed RIGHT NOW OR THE PERSON WILL DIE. If the person can live for another few months or more without the treatment, even if it’d be a life of hell that could’ve been avoided, that’s not necessary. Well, it’s not unless medical transition is necessary.

Artist Talk: Transcendence

I don’t really have an objection to this, but, as an Art Major who actually kind of hates most artists, I just have to groan at what it will likely be.

First: Do I even need to say what’s wrong with the title of this? Do I? Look- if I have to say what’s wrong with referring to a trans person as “A Transgender” or “A Transsexual”, just stop following this blog. Do me a favor and just stop. It’s the same reason you don’t call a tall person “A Tall” or a person from Japan “A Japanese”. It’s fucking disrespectful.

Second: I’m terrified that this is going to be all about how hard it is for cis kids to have trans parents and how awful it is and blah blah blah “Trans people make bad parents”, possibly with “Expecting your kids to refer to you as the right gender is unacceptable! How dare you expect your children to treat you wtih the same respect as cis parents get? You freaks need to learn your place!”.

The ENTIRE fucking WORLD is your safe space away from trans people.

I get that they have “special needs” thanks to being associated with us freaks- but how DARE they think it’s okay to give cis people a cis-only space when there are no trans-only spaces?

I want a fucking trans lounge. I want a non-binary lounge. I want a place to go if I don’t feel like going to the workshops where I can chill with trans people and just be because that’s something I never get in real life.

WHY THE FUCK DO CIS PEOPLE GET SOMETHING THAT THEY GET EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN DAY?

Alright.

I’m not one to get grumpy at the shit that happens on Facebook but really? Fucking really?

I’m not personally friends with this girl. She’s the daughter of one of my mom’s friends and I’ve met her a few times and their family is decent. But really? Really?

I’m so pissed right now I can’t even figure out how to properly correct her without sounding angry. Livid. And the commenter? Some woman in her 40’s it looks like. Really? How is that even remotely appropriate?

I guess I”m still just amazed at the amount of ignorance there is.
